The Firm

The Firm was founded after the end of World War Two by Antonio Mucciarelli, a professional who focused his practice on corporate crime, and Professor Cesare Pedrazzi, who was considered one of the most prominent economic criminal law scholar.

Over the decades, the Firm has assisted and advised not only Italian corporations and companies, but also leading foreign companies in the typical areas of corporate crime (tax, banking, corporate, protection of markets, anticorruption, environment, industrial safety).

The Firm has the peculiar feature of being structured in working teams, which – especially in the first decades after the Firm was established – was quite unusual in Italy. Against this background, contacts and collaborations with the major international English and US as well as Italian law firms have been developed.

At the beginning of the new century, the Firm has maintained and built up its structure: this is divided into four working teams, each of which is led by a partner (Luisa Mazzola, Marta Lanfranconi, Marco Calleri and Adriano Raffaelli). Each working team, in turn, consists of senior professionals (counsels) and junior lawyers and trainees. In addition to coordinating the activities of his colleagues and the working teams, the Firm’s most senior partner (Professor Francesco Mucciarelli) provides direct assistance and advice, always in conjunction with the working teams entrusted with the relevant matters.

The Firm has a total of twenty people and continues to provide legal assistance and advice in criminal matters in the area of white-collar and corporate crime.

The Firm also benefits from the constant support of Carlo Enrico Paliero, full professor of criminal law at the Università degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan). Professor Paliero – Fellow, Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung and visiting professor at the major German, Mexican and Brazilian universities – is considered to be one of the leading Italian criminal law scholars.

Besides the academic activity by some of them, the members of the Firm are invited to speak at major conferences organized by specialized companies, industry organizations and professional associations, or they lecture at undergraduate and postgraduate courses organized by Universities (Università Luigi Bocconi, Università degli Studi di Milano, Università degli Studi di Pavia, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, Università degli Studi di Firenze, Università degli Studi di Macerata) and by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies) of Pisa. In particular, Professor Mucciarelli and Professor Paliero are frequently called upon to lecture courses at the Scuola Superiore della Magistratura (School of Advanced Studies for Judges) in the context of both Centralized Training and Decentralized Training.

The Firm has collaborated and collaborates regularly with the major Italian, English and US law firms, as well as with the major consulting firms.

In line with the teachings of its founders, the Firm does not disclose the names of its clients, nor does it take part in competitions for awards or participate in promotions.
