Avv. Marco Calleri
Born in Milan in 1964. He graduated with honors in law from the Università degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan) in 1988 with Professor Guido Rossi, then he joined a British “Magic Circle” law firm to continue his market abuse and market regulation training in New York (law firm Coudert). He is a member of the Milan Bar and he is qualified to plead before the higher courts.
In 1992 he joined the Firm, where he handled the bribery proceedings known as “Mani Pulite”. Since then, he has advised on issues related to compliance with international criminal law, bankruptcy criminal law and debt restructuring (Parmalat trial), as well as on criminal tax cases (Dividend Washing in Pescara, transfer pricing and permanent establishments, Brontos case).
More recently, he has assisted international banks in the “Derivatives” case, in bank usury and money laundering issues (proceedings in Florence involving a leading Chinese credit institution), in Legislative Decree No. 231/01 issues (British Telecom) and market abuse issues (trial against rating agencies in Trani) and criminal bankruptcy law (Alitalia trial). He has also acted as counsel in the major criminal trials for international corruption, such as Brazil’s Lava Jato, the case Indian Government-Finmeccanica, the case of Nigerian oil field OPL 245.
He has spoken at conferences organized by ABI, APBI, Assosim, Borsa Italiana, Ordine Commercialisti, Paradigma, and he has published in “La Rivista 231” and “Investo Relator”. He is regularly consulted by some of the major British and US law firms and the major international auditing and business consulting firms.
Since 2021 he is rated top Italian criminal law advisor by Chambers & Partners.
